We received this paper bag at a checkout at a California supermarket. Look at the wording on the bag. Pay close attention to the use of the word "reduces."

Even when it is in a landfill?
FRONT VIEW

This bag "helps fish to breath."
In case you can't read the wording on the bag, here it is.
This bag is our commitment to the environment; is made of 100% recycled paper; reduces landfill volume; can handle sustained lifts equal to virgin kraft paper.
This bag reduces greenhouse gases; didn't come directly from a tree.
This bag reduces toxic heavy metals; funds recycling programs; reduces virgin paper consumption; is reusable; helps communities save money; creates community economic incentives; reduces wastewater pollution.
This bag reduces virgin wood pulp consumption; does not go in a garbage truck; is a sustainable product; helps fish to breathe; is renewable; reduces chlorine effluents; is recycled; save trees.
Note: Recycled paper can mean post-industrial or post-consumer. Post-industrial means recovered from a factory before it goes to the consumer. This is an easy way of claiming "recycled."
